Laurence Delasaux - a pro with a promising future, signs with Grays ©ISquash Marketing.

Grays, a closely held sports equipment supplier headquartered in Cambridge England, launched its 2006 range of squash rackets by announcing the signing of the former European Junior Champion Laurence Delasaux.

Grays, at one time, in the sixties and early seventies, was a dominant supplier of squash racquets but slowly and increasingly quickly has largely vanished from the squash players' view outside of England.

An brief attempt to reintroduce the brand into the USA in 1999 and 2000 was abandoned by the distributor CranBarry, and the racquets largely not obtainable in the US market, although the Gray's Field Hockey Racquet business in thriving in the American and European markets. The brand is very alive in a few markets such as the UK as well as the Netherlands where it has an active distributor.

Laurence Delasaux has chosen the new Grays Powerflow Elite racket and achieved instant success, defeating fourth-seeded Hungarian Mark Krajcsak 11-6 11-10(3-1) 11-7 to win the Hithercroft Open in Oxfordshire, England and earn the second World Tour title of his career. In the semi-finals, the 20-year-old recorded an equally impressive 8-11 11-4 11-3 11-8 win over compatriot and third seed Alex Stait

Delasaux, the former British and European Junior Champion commented on his performance with the new frame, saying: “I am obviously on a high after having started the year with immediate success. This second PSA Tour win was hard fought, but the new Grays racket felt right from the word go. I practiced a lot with it over the Christmas break, but to come into the New Year and have a victory in my first tournament with it is a massive bonus.

The Grays Powerflow Elite racket is part of a brand new range featuring the Carbon Loc technology. This manufacturing process, introduced by Grays for its premium rackets provides not only strength and greater power, but also a good level of feel and feedback for players of all levels.
