Mohammed Abbas from Cairo, Egypt, currently 22nd in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Rankings (March 2006), has announced that he joined Harrow Sports in February. With the signing, Harrow, a privately held sports equipment company based in Greenwich CT, is seeking to further expand its marketing reach internationally. Harrow, a new entrant into the squash marketplace in 2002, has moved aggressively to position itself as a signficant player. Through continuous advertising and sponsorship of junior players, events and teams, Harrow has gained signficant visibility in the US Market, putting itself in a position to challenge Black Knight as the "largest of the small players" behind Prince, Dunlop, Head and Wilson, and potentially to push even them. Now with the signing of Abbas, (and the accompanying signing of Laura Jane Lengthorn), Harrow is moving to position itself with an international audience and market. Abbas collected his second PSA World Tour Title by claiming the COAS International in Islamabad, Pakistan last week. In his distinguished career, Abbas’ achievements include reaching to the finals in The British Junior Open in 1999, leading Egypt to the finals of The World Junior Team Championships in 1998 and achieving a career high PSA ranking of #15 in 2004. “I am very excited to join Harrow Sports. I have been impressed with their attention to their sponsored players and am confident that their equipment will allow me to fulfill my potential on court”, said Abbas, fresh off his first PSA win. Mark Hayden, CEO of Harrow Sports, added, “Abbas is a world class player and we are very pleased to have him on our team”. [Please take the SquashTalk Reader Survey]
