Sunday, January 27, 2002 ... Princeton, N.J.- Trinity College sophomore Amina Helal (Stamford, England) defeated freshman teammate Lynn Leong (Kota Bharu, Malaysia), 3-0, in the finals of the 2002 Betty Constable Women's Squash Tournament at Princeton University this afternoon. Helal, seeded No. 1 in the 16-player tournament field won twice and Leong won three matches to reach the finals, which was the first ever Constable final round to feature two Trinity players. Helal received a bye into the quarter-finals and blanked her two opponents, 3-0, each. Leong won, 3-0 in her first round match and edged No. 3-seeded Olga Puidgmont-Sola, 3-2, in the quarter-finals. Leong upset No. 2 seed Runa Reta, 3-1, in the semi-finals to set up the final against her teammate. Bantam sophomore Pam Saunders (Harrare, Zimbabwe) made it to the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win in the first round, but dropped a 3-0 decision to Reta in the quarter-finals. As a result of their Constable tourney performances, Helal and Leong will be ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation in the next Women's Intercollegiate Squash Association (WISA) national rankings.
