Bard over the past few years have been trying to rebuild their squash program, and have been struggling to fill all 9 spots on the team in some years.

However 2002/2003 season looks to be getting off to a good start, with excellent numbers trying out for the varsity team. We hope to have a more competitive this year than we have had in the past. We have 6 players returning from last year and with the addition of 7/8 eager to learn freshmen Bard squash is looking to be competitive again.

Bard's team is anchored by Ridaa Murad at 1, a senior who has had three good seasons and finished last year above .500. Backing him up, Joe Fox-Boyd is expected to take the number two slot. Fox-Boyd, a junior, has seen improvement in every game played. Bard needs him to step up in 2003. Also at the heart of the squad is Tyler Van-Gundy #4 - a Senior with two years experience on the team, he has slowly worked his way up the ladder, and Rudd Davis at number five, a Senior who had his first year last year in squash, and has really improved is looking to have a good season.

Joining the squad will be Matt Wing, currently at #3, a Freshman with plenty of squash experience at the high school level. Looking for Matt to compete well at the collegiate level.

Bard has a back-loaded schedule this year, with their only match this semester is against Fordham December 6th. This will give them plenty of time to develop the team and provide training and instruction for the new recruits. Then in the new year Bard plays Vassar, Middlebury, Fordham, Penn State, Haverford, and George Washington. Bard will also be competing in the New York State Championship which takes place at Vassar and competing at Princeton in the National Collegiate Squash Championships.

An enthusiastic Bard squad looks forward to the new squash season with eagerness and plans to be competitve in all their intercollegiate matches.
