Hobart
02-03 tries to improve on #14 finish
|
Last year Hobart was
ranked 15th nationally with a 14th finish in the National Team Championships.
Although the team lost two solid contributors to graduation —
Reed Harwood and Andrew Hunt — in return they gain a strong
contributor, Gavin Butcher.
Harwood played #4 for
most of the season and Hunt played #8 most of the season. Andrew
Scott,#2 for Hobart last Fall played four matches and took off second
semester.
Scott returns this Fall
and will
strengthen the top of this year's line-up. #1 T.V. Rathore
returns as does Angel Magana who played #2 most
of the year.
Magana is fresh off the
Pan Am Games where he represented El Salvador.
Other returning players
in last year's starting line-up include Henry Clutsam,
Cameron Lister, Ryan Gillmore, Freddy Cook, and
Richard Reutter.

Gavin Johnstone-Butcher
is Hobart's top recruit. Gavin joins the team after a strong NE
Prep career in which he played #1 for St. Paul's School for three
years and finished in the top five New England high school players.
He is expected
to add strength and toughness to the top of this year's line-up.
In return, Gavin should
benefit from strong competition on a daily basis. Others expected
to contend for a position in the starting line-up are freshmen Devin
Resler, Jared Shahid and Michael Tien.
