After a disappointing 2001-02 campaign in which Penn dropped out of the top-tier of women's teams the Lady Quakers look to strongly rebound this year and challenge the top teams. Penn is looking to again be a force among the ivy league and the top 8 teams.

Senior Runa Reta anchors the Penn squad. Runa had a strong junior season, had a productive summer working on her game, and has gained fall experience in some elite events, such as the Ottawa WISPA event. She shows signs she is ready to move up in the ranks as a senior. She has trained very hard this past summer and looks to improve on her already excellent play.

Following Runa in the lineup will be junior Dafna Wegner and sophmore Linda McNair both all americans last season, Daphna especially is looking forward to a full season as she had a disappointing sophomore season after missing many matches last year due to injuries. The squad will miss Kati Fetter as she is studying abroad this semester but Penn will have her back in the lineup after Christmas.

Playing in the middle of the lineup will be freshman Lorin Riley and sophmore Rohini Gupta who lost in the finals of the individual B divsion last year. They will be joined by freshman Tyler Pearce via Rochester, New York, Colleen Gurda, from the Hochkiss School, Lily Evans from Miss Porters School, and Lizzy O'neill and Missy Cosgrave both from the Choate Academy. With 8 recruited freshman this year along with 6 recruits from last year Penn will be very young in talent and but rich in youth and enthusiasm.

The schedule also swings in Penn's favor this year, with several of the key swing matches taking place at home in Philadelphia this year, so coach Jim Martel looks forward to his squad being a factor come Howe Cup time.
