Navy Visits Bay Area
Early Season Round Robin with Stanford, Cal, Utah

by Craig Dawson, Naval Academy Nov 8, 2004 © 2004

The Navy squash team flew to San Francisco Nov 4 to start the college squash season.

Matches were played at Cal on Friday, and on Saturday Navy played Utah and Stanford at Stanford. Play was completed with a match against the San Francisco Bay Club, which Navy won 9-3.

This was Navy's second trip to the Bay Area. The weather was great and the Cal and Stanford campuses are beautiful. Several Navy player parents flew in for the match, and also the Navy parents club hosted Navy,Stanford, and Utah teams for a picnic after the match.

UTAH GOES THE DISTANCE
Utah drove eleven hours in order to arrive and play at 9am. Mark Talbot was a great host at Stanford and Ashley Kayler ran a great match at Cal. The Navy team had a well deserved night of liberty in San Francisco Saturday and flew back to Annapolis on Sunday. San Francisco is a great area for squash and Navy highly recomends other teams make the trip. We will go back in two years.
