CSA Mandatory Eyewear Policy

Issued by Men's and Women's Committee April 2005

CSA Eyewear Policy
April, 2005

The Policy
In accordance with the rules of squash adopted by the CSA, the wearing of approved eyewear is mandatory by collegiate players in any competition match, singles or doubles. This applies to any dual match, individual tournament or team tournament where players are representing their respective institutions, or playing in an approved
USSRA event. This also applies to any participants representing the U.S. in international collegiate competition.

Approved eyewear are glasses that are certified by either ATSM or ANSI and have passed the appropriate tests.

Eyewear approved by CSA as of January 2005 that meets ASTM F803
or ANSI Z87.1 Black Knight, Dunlop, Eagle, Ektelon, Halo Sports, Head/Penn, I-Mask, I-tech Sport, Kleershot, Leader, Liberty Optical, North Atlantic, Oakley (Sweep, Strike and Away), Prince, Pro Kennex, RAD, Rem Optical, RPM, Spalding, Unique sports, Wilson.

Disclaimer
The CSA does not test or certify eyewear. The CSA only endorses those companies that have meet and or exceed the tests as listed above. It is the individuals responsibility to ensure that their eyewear is approved and meets or exceeds either the ANSI and ATSM testing requirements.

The Rules
Approved eyewear must be worn for the entirety of the match, from the beginning of the warm-up till the match reaches a fair conclusion. Standard eyeglasses may not be worn in lieu of approved eyewear, even if eyewear have plastic lenses. In the event of a player not having approved eyewear for their match the same rules that apply for a self
inflicted injury will apply. In the event of breakage of eyewear during the match the injury rule may be required to determine the result. This would only be needed in the case of prescription glasses that can not be immediately replaced. In the event of a player not
having approved eyewear and a suitable replacement not being found the player may forfeit the match.

Coaches Responsibility
It is up to each institutions coach that each member of their team have approved eyewear before the start of each season and have suitable replacement pairs for the duration of the season.

2005/2006 Enforcement
This policy will be strictly enforced during the 2005/2006 season.
