Cornell Women Add Freshmen Strength for 05-06

Women's 05-06 Season Outlook:
The Cornell Women’s Squash Team is looking forward to an exciting 2005-2006 season. We are optimistic that we will improve upon our tenth position in the national rankings from last season and gain more Ivy victories. After summer break, every player on our team returned with the renewed commitment to the team and a desire to improve their own skills. Just one month into the school year, this dedication and discipline looks to pay off.

Co-captains Cory Warfield and Allison Laycob both have the experience and commitment to lead this motivated hard working team and have them competing as a formidable unit.

Freshmen Maxi Prinsen and Alex Cornett, Sophomore Mairin Barnes and Senior Cory Warfield will be heading the Cornell line up. Having these excellent players at the top of the team’s roster will make for a stronger lineup throughout.

Our playing schedule sees us on the road for most of the matches. Our big in season matches are on Dec. 3rd playing Bates (at Harvard) and Jan. 27th against Amherst (at Amherst). The Red will be looking to beat both these close rivals.

We are sorry to lose Brooke Stetson, Joanna Wolfson, and Claire Zipf who all graduated last May. Returning from last season are Seniors Cory Warfield, Allison Laycob, Stephanie Tsay, and Meghan McCarthy, Juniors Margot Dickson, Anna Beavis, Jamie Singer, and Sophomore Mairin Barnes - all will yet again make a big contribution to the team.

Joining the squad are Freshmen Maxi Prinsen, Alex Cornett, Alix Watson, and Lauren Clarke - all have impressive junior accolades and are certain to make the Cornell squad a national contender.
