Men's 05-06 Season Outlook: [More about Trinity Squash]
The Trinity men's team, who have set the standard for skills, competitive effort, sportsmanship, and winning results over the past seven-plus seasons, looks forward to the 2005-2006 season with much enthusiasm. Those characteristics still make Trinity the nine to beat this season. The Trinity Bantams will have an entirely new face and personality this year as they say goodby to their numbers one and two players from last season with the graduation of four-time All-American, Bernardo Samper and three-time All-American Reggie Schonborn. As a consequence, for the first time in recent memory, Trinity enters the campaign without a "marqee" player at the top. Marcus Cowie, Samper, and Schonborn have provided the Bantam Nine with a charismatic face for the past eight seasons. The squad will be as deep as ever with virtually all other players returning, but it will feel the loss at the top of the lineup. Returning players from last year include: Sean Johnstone, Yvain Badan, Jacques Swanepoel, Eduardo Pereira, Sahil Vora, Eric Wadhwa, Tom Wolfe, Coly Smith, Samson Muhwati and Neal Robertson. In addition, Trinity Welcomes new players, Gustav Detter from Sweden, Martin Stepan from the Czech Republic and Charlie Tashjian from Greenwich Ct. The
battles will be intense "in house" for the 7, 8, and 9 positions,
but what will determine this year's team's success will be who will step
up to the plate and play at the top of the ladder. This is because Princeton
has gotten so strong up at the top while Harvard and Yale continue to
be deep in the top third of their lineups.
