Veteran English squash player ready to cause a right royal racquet. Squash, Your Majesty? England’s Chris Walker is scheduled to play the first match of the squash tournament in the Commonwealth Games and is relishing the prospect of playing in front of Her Majesty The Queen on Friday morning.
Walker will face Jamaican, Wayne Prescod in the opening game, and will not be underestimating his opposition. “I don’t know much about my first opponent, but he is representing his country and must be treated with respect. I’m seeded at 10, but that doesn’t phase me. I was seeded at 32 in the British Open and had a great tournament.” The 35-year-old took a six-month sabbatical from the sport recently to travel the world with his girlfriend, but has returned in good form, fresh and raring to go. “I couldn’t wait to get back on the circuit. I love the game and approach each tournament now with a different mentality. I’m definitely more relaxed on the court and don’t feel the pressure.” |
