General Comments and Feedback
Dear Readers:

Our articles over
the past two years have generated constant and interesting feedback. It’s
that reaction from SquashTalk readers that keeps up going – writing these
entries late at night in hotel rooms in strange cities. We appreciate
all of your comments!

This batch are mostly
general compliments and other interesting emails we received with respect
to our articles in general:

……for well written and witty colums from the squash
tour! I enjoy reading
them. Being a swede I especially enjoyed you piece on Stefan Edberg earlier
this
year from the Catella cup.

Keep it up pls!

Dan,

I enjoyed your
commentary on the PSA/John Nimick situation. i have been reading
all that has been occurring and scratching my head wondering why cooler
heads
didn’t prevail earlier. there comes a time in life and business when you
have to
make the right decision, and clearly the right decision in my opinion
wasn’t
made. as luck would have it, the French pulled out and put the us open
back in
the drivers seat, but the damage was already done.

John Nimick
deserves "preferential treatment" because he has committed himself
to the PSA more than any one sponser or person. Idon’t know Gawain Briars,
and
I am sure that it wasn’t solely his decision to make, but i do know that
I
wouldn’t dream of sabotaging such an important relationship in my business
or
personal life.

I suggest to
the PSA that they agree to cover any "shortfalls" not only for
some
decent p.r., but to show john that they do value him and his work.

if the financial
position of the PSA is not a positive one, i highly recommend
them publishing an apology to john nimmick and event engine…it’s free
and it’s
the right thing to do.

Good luck.

Hi Dan!

I’m a big squash fan here in Mexico (I consider myself
as a intermediate
player), I regulary read your colum in SquashTalk, I think it is just
great!…
talking about it… my main interests, I hope you can write about,
are:

1) *MORE* Training and preparation methods (the one you
wrote in the Cathay Open
was great)

2) I know squash preparation/training are different on
each person but maybe you
can comment how a Squash player combine for example weight lifting and
cardiovascular routines, how much of each one do you do on different stages
of
the pro tour. (I don’t want you reveal your whole training program, but
some
general points would be great)

3) How is the
relationship between Squash Pros during the tour (you might well
classify this one as gossip)

Thanks in advance
and keep going!

Hi,

Read your article about the Club Championships and you
did the right thing in
not accepting the best of three with Nicol. There may be many unspoken
rules,
but only one written and that states: "Each match shall be the best
of five
games, except when the result of a Tie at the knockout stage has been
decided,
in which case the final match shall be the best of 3 games."

Good luck in SA

Hello Team Kneipp!

I just read your article about the ECC and Joseph’s game
against Peter Nicol,
and in my opinion you are absolutely right.

In pool games, every game had to be "best of 5",
and that was very clearly
stated in the rules, and even during the manager’s meating the organizers
were
very clear on that point…. And I find it quite strange that the world
number 1
expects somebody to let him win in 3…

By the way: I made a picture of the women drying the court
with a hair-dryer,
and put it on our web site: www.sce.lu (just click on the team photo!)

That was, in my opinion, a great article. The descriptions
of the "one day you
can be on and the next day off situations –and for no apparent reason"
were
very insightful.

Hi Dan,

Nothing really to say except I always love your columns.
I’ve told you this
before, but you guys give such a great human element to the tour. I look
forward to every new column, and I always pull for Joe. Keep up the great
work, (and come to Santa Barbara some time!)

Hey Jo! Wazup? It’s Taylor from the squash club tournament
in Bermuda. Remember,
I am the kid who rallied with you before your game with John White in
the
lightning tournament. I just wanted to say thank you for everything and
especially for rallying with me. It was really cool. Good luck on your
upcoming
tournament. All of the kids at my school are so jealous of me rallying
with you
and that I got to see a real squash pro. Well, I better let you go, you
probably
have stuff to do. Try to e-mail me back as soon as you can but take your
time, I
know you probably have a lot on your calendar.

Sincerely,

Taylor Dickinson

Just a quick note to tell you what a very good writer

entire business career in the magazine publishing world and have even
been
publisher of a couple of magazines. I have enjoyed all the accounts of
tournaments and travels you have contributed to Squashtalk. Thanks.

TEAM KNEIPP…

HEY GUYS, I`M ALWAYS THRILLED WHEN YOU GUYS WRITE SUCH
GOOD ARTICLES. YOU MAKE
THE PRO TOUR COME ALIVE WITH THE “REAL" STUFF AND WHAT IT MUST BE
LIKE TO BE ON
THE TOUR. I HAVE AN EVEN GREATER APPRECIATION FOR THE HARD WORK THAT YOU
AND THE
OTHER PRO’S GO THRU JUST TO MAKE IT ON TOUR. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE CRYING
SHAME THAT
SQUASH DOESN’T HAVE A HIGHER PROFILE (OLYMPICS,TV, ECT.). ANYWAY, JUST
A NOTE TO
SAY WELL DONE AND GOOD LUCK THIS YEAR. I WILL FOLLOW YOU AND YOUR COMPATRIOTS
FERVENTLY OVER THE NEXT YEAR.

YOURS TRULY

Dan:

Saw your story on the fire @ squashtalk.com. and clicked
your link to say
that the Cincinnati contingent enjoyed the adult camp this summer. Thanks
for the instruction and fun times. I’m doing a lot of footwork training
and
it seems to help.

Good luck this year. Stay out of saunas, and call if you
find yourself
heading this way.
