Adrian Grant of England and Pameal Nimmo of Scotland stormed to victory in the J&B Odense Squash Open in Odense, Denmark, when third seed Adrian Grant ended junior compatriot James Willstrop's giant-killing run in the men's final and second seed Pamela Nimmo upset local favourite and defending champion Ellen Petersen in the women's event.
Grant, 21, from Kent, claimed his sixth title on the PSA Tour with a close-fought 15-10 16-17 15-3 17-15 victory over Yorkshire's 18-year-old European junior champion. It was Willstrop's second appearance in a senior professional final in six weeks - and an achievement he made as a qualifier, after trouncing three seeded players including the top seed Derek Ryan.
Pamela Nimmo's 9-5 7-9 9-4 9-2 victory over Danish No1 Ellen Petersen marked a glorious return to form for the 24-year-old from Edinburgh who was struck down by Deep Vein Thrombosis in February last year. The Odense title is Nimmo's second on the WISPA World Tour - and her second in Denmark, after lifting the Danish Open trophy just over three years ago. -
