Alex Gough Lifts Liechtenstein Trophy

Welshman Alex Gough despatched his Egyptian opponent Wael El Hindi in straight games in the final of the Interlingua Liechtenstein Squash Open in Vaduz to lift the winner's trophy in the first PSA Tour event to be staged in the European principality.

The 33-year-old former world No5 survived a number of long and entertaining rallies with excellent retrieving and countering against El Hindi's silky skills. After 70 minutes, and much to the disappointment of the captivated crowd, the match ended with a stroke with the score at 15-12 15-13 15-13 in Gough's favour.

The success marks the ninth PSA title of Gough's career - just over ten years since the Berkshire-based world No24 claimed his first, in Canada, in November 1993.

RESULTS: Interlingua Liechtenstein Squash Open, Vaduz, Liechtenstein

Final:
[2] Alex Gough (WAL) bt [5] Wael El Hindi (EGY) 15-12, 15-13, 15-13 (70m)
