Durbach
Clinches Brazil Open Title
Making up for his disappointment at his country's absence from this month's Commonwealth Games in England, South Africa's Rodney Durbach beat Canadian Shahier Razik 11-15 15-9 15-10 6-15 15-4 to claim the Brazil Squash Open title in Curitiba. Top-seeded Durbach, the 30-year-old world No34, took 1 hour and 20 minutes to beat Razik in an evenly-contested match which thrilled the Curitiba crowd. Razik, the No2 seed who will represent his country later this month in Quito, Ecuador, in the Pan American Squash Championships, had the crowd behind him throughout the final, but fell away in the fifth game. It was Durbach's fifth PSA Tour title, but his first in America. CORRECTION: August 13, 2002, Shahier Razik will not be representing Canada in the Pan American Squash Championship. The Canadian squad will be Viktor Berg, Sabir Butt, Shawn Delierre, and Ian Power. RESULTS:
