Lavigne Withstands Williams Challenge France's top seed Renan Lavigne overcame stiff resistance from third seed John Williams to claim the $20,000 Colombian Squash Open title for the second successive year after beating the Australian 17-16 15-12 14-17 15-10 in the final in Bogota. Lavigne, 27, from Paris, is sure to improve on his career-high world ranking of 26 after extending his unbeaten record in PSA Tour finals to four wins since August 1999. The final result was a disappointment for Williams, the 29-year-old former world No15 from Victoria who now lives in Switzerland. The only player to take a game from the Bogota champion, Williams was appearing in his first PSA final since March 2001 when he lost the Windy City Open in Chicago - also to a Frenchman (Thierry Lincou) in four games.
