Barrington Tops Butt To Win Brazil Open Title England's Joey Barrington demonstrated consistency for the third successive time on his tour of South America by winning the Brazil Open Squash Championship in convincing style in Brasilia. Seeded two, the 25-year-old from Somerset was runner-up in the Internacional de Sao Paulo last month; then a week later he bowed out at the semi-final stage in the Colombian Open in Bogota where he was the third seed. Thus, nothing but the title would satisfy the top seed in Brasilia and, after overcoming local opposition in the form of third seed Rafael F Alarcon in a tough 111-minute semi-final, Barrington despatched unseeded Canadian Sabir Butt 11-8 11-10 11-8 in a 59-minute final to win his first title of the year in his third final. It was an impressive first PSA final appearance for Sabir Butt for more than two years. The 36-year-old Canadian despatched two seeds en-route to the semi-finals, where he beat fellow non-seed Amr Mansi, from Egypt, in just 28 minutes.
