BRITISH OPEN INFORMATION:

To all players, media, referees and friends in squash throughout the world:

No doubt you are all aware of the great news that this year's British Open has been rescued and that the event is being staged in Aberdeen, Scotland, from December 2nd to 12th.

VENUES: Qualifying rounds and the women's first round will take place at the friendly and well equipped Aberdeen Squash Club, with the main event moving to the superbly-located Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

HOTEL: Our official tournament hotel, the Aberdeen Posthouse, is on-site, and is connected to the main arena by a covered walkway. So you don't have to worry about our winter weather. We have negotiated special rates with the Posthouse (27pounds.50pence per night per person including breakfast) and your contact there is Lynn Hedley. Telephone 0870 400 9046.

TRAVEL: Seaforths Travel are the Official Travel Agent for the British Open. They offer a one-stop service for flights, event tickets and accommodation. The Travel Hotline number is: 0870 840 4262. Or email squash@seaforths.com

TICKETS: The Aberdeen Box Office Ticket Hotline is 01224 641122

MEDIA ACCREDITATION:

Please contact Alan Thatcher at alansquash@hotmail.com

Please let me know when you are arriving, how long you are staying, and who you are working for. Then you can take advantage of the special room rates negotiated with the Posthouse. Lunch and tea will be provided free of charge for all working media covering the event. There may also be a fridge in the Press Room at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre!

TOURNAMENT DRAW: The British Open draw will take place in Aberdeen on Tuesday November 16th. Entries close the day before. Media invitations will be issued in the next few days.

THE FINALS: The women's final is on Saturday December 11th at 5pm. The men's final is the following day, also at 5pm.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS: We have commissioned a superb range of Official Tournament Merchandise, including exclusive items from Edinburgh Crystal, our Official Trophy Sponsors, clothing from Squash Design, a two-for-one rackets deal with Slazenger, with more deals on the way from Hi-Tec. So your Christmas shopping problems will all be taken care of in Aberdeen. We are still trying for an Official Whisky.
