Precision Power beats Barada tonight.

Power amazed the crowd with his lightning reflexes that allowed him to make difficult volleys look easy, to reach almost every one of Barada's drops, and to dig Barada's excellent length out of the back corners. (Photo Ron Beck © 1999)

Jonathon Power moved ahead of Ahmed Barada midway in the first game and didn't look back. Barada had prepared diligently this week. He came out for the match ready to match Power shot for shot. But, characteristically, Barada's play was streaky. It was up to Power to wait out Barada through his brilliant stretches, waiting for the two or three point stretch of errors that inevitably came each game.

Afterwards, Jomathon Power said, "I was pretty confident I was going to win by the second game. I was making Ahmed work around the court every point and his legs were starting to go. He's in great shape, but he has a big body to carry around and he's not efficient in his motion, so it was pretty easy for me to tire him out."

Power is relaxed and confident going into Sunday's finals.
