Canadian Contingent fights for bronzes in Mexico City. Quibel on track for USA

CANADIANS TO FIGHT FOR BRONZE MEXICO CITY

Canada is guaranteed at least two bronze medals and could win as many as four bronze following semifinal action at the Pan Am junior squash championships.

In the men's under-19 division, Brendan Abercrombie of Prince George, B.C., and Andrew Jones of Georgetown, Ont., both lost their semifinal matches 3-0 to Mexican opponents and meet for the bronze medal.

In the men's under-17, Matthew Serediak of Regina lost his semifinal to top-seed Gibran Ruiz of Mexico 6-9, 9-6, 9-1, 9-2 and faces another Mexican Manuel Fegoso for third spot.

In the women's under-19, Canadian number-one Jacqui Inward of Peterborough, Ont., lost to Diana Huetra of Mexico7-9, 9-0, 9-6, 9-4 and is scheduled to battle Amy Gross of the U.S., for third. Finally in women's under-17, Marci Sier of Shanty Bay, Ont., and Ashley Clackson of Victoria both lost their semis and meet for the bronze.

MEN Under-19

Semifinal Erik Galvez, Mexico def. Brendan Abercrombie, Prince George, B.C., 9-3, 9-1, 9-4. George Baltazar, Mexico def. Andrew Jones, Georgetown, Ont., 9-5, 9-6, 10-9.

Under-17
Semifinal Gibran Ruiz, Mexico def. Matthew Serediak, Regina, 6-9, 9-6, 9-1, 9-2.

WOMEN Under-19
Semifinal Diana Hueta, Mexico def. Jacqui Inward, Peterborough, Ont., 7-9, 9-0, 9-6, 9-4.

Under-17
Semifinal Isabel Restrepo, Columbia def. Marci Sier, Shanty Bay, Ont., 9-1, 5-9, 6-9, 9-1, 9-6.
Audry Duboc, U.S., def. Ashley Clackson, Victoria, 9-5, 9-7, 9-5.
