Canadian Contingent competes strongly in Pan Am Juniors Quarterfinals

CANADIANS ROLL INTO SEMIS AT PAN AM JUNIORS MEXICO CITY

Andrew Jones of Georgetown, Ont., and Jacqui Inward of Peterborough, Ont., are among six Canadians headed to semifinals after Monday's matches at the inaugural Pan Am junior squash championships.

In men's under-19 category, Jones, the number-four ranked junior in Canada, and Brendan Abercrombie of Prince George, B.C., reached the semis. Abercrombie won a hard fought quarter over Hector Celis of Mexico 9-3, 7-9, 9-4, 10-8 while Jones has cruised to the final four In the boys under-17 class, Matt Serediak of Regina, ranked fifth in the Canada in his age class, is also qualified for the semis.

It's also been a very good tournament so far for the Canadian women. In the under-19 category, Canadian junior number-one Jacqui Inward of Peterborough, Ont., is into the semis after defeating teammate Jennifer Blumberg of Victoria. Marcie Sier of Shanty Bay, Ont., and Ashley Clackson of Victoria are also in the final four in the under-17 division. -30- Canadian results at the junior Pan Am squash championships:
