Fitz-Gerald Felled By Calf Injury

Australia's world No1 squash player Sarah Fitz-Gerald has pulled out of four forthcoming WISPA World Tour events in order to recover from a calf injury.

The four-times world champion from Melbourne, top seed in all the events, will miss the Texas Open, due to begin in Houston this Thursday (28th February); the Vassar College Open in New York; and the Heliopolis Open and Al-Ahram International in Egypt later in March.

"This calf injury has come at a bad time - though I guess there is no good time to be out of action," said Fitz-Gerald of the injury which originally hampered her movement in both last month's Hartford Open and Tournament of Champions in the USA.

"This is an important year for me, with the Commonwealth Games and other major events, but I certainly expect to be back in action by the British Open in April.

"In the meantime, I must keep the weight off my right leg for at least the next five days, then take things slowly from then on," Fitz-Gerald added.
