The top two seeds fell at the semi final hurdle as Marcus Berrett bounced out top seed Stephen Meads and Paul Lord took advantage of an ankle injury to Tim Garner to set up their final clash. Berrett shrugged off a slow start to reel in Meads with deft volleys and drops, while Lord was in inspired form and was unlucky to lose the first before Garner jarred his ankle mid-way through the second.

In the quarterfinals earlier in the day, Scotland's hopes of a home win ended with the loss of Stuart Cowie. He briefly threatened in the first against second seed Tim Garner but was unable to make much of an impressiion after being squeezed out 15/13 in the first.

The upset of the quarter final round was 5/8 seed Paul Lords dismissal of 3/4 seed Derek Ryan in straight games in a reversal of their recent league meeting.

In the top half, Marcus Berrett barely broke into a sweat against Andy Whipp, but top seed Stephen Meads was made to battle for nearly 90 minutes by the mercurial Tim Vail before edging home in four.
