Qualifiers Shahier Razik and Davide Bianchetti continued their giant-killing assault on the men's field of the Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Open in Rye, USA, by removing two further seeds to reach the semi-finals - with the certainty
that one will make it through to a possible all-Canadian final.

Razik, the 25-year-old world No40 from Toronto in Canada, took out top-seeded Welshman Alex Gough in the first round, then defeated seventh-seeded Englishman Stephen Meads 15-12 15-10 5-15 15-14 to earn a semi-final clash
with fellow qualifier Davide Bianchetti.

After his first round dismissal of Belgium's 8th seed Stefan Casteleyn, the Italian stepped up a gear to crush England's third seed Nick Taylor 15-9 15-7 15-8.

The other men's semi-final will feature Finland's Olli Tuominen and Canada's
Graham Ryding. Tuominen, the second seed, narrowly survived a five-game
encounter for the second time in two days - this time twice coming from behind to hold off sixth-seeded Frenchman Gregory Gaultier in a 11-15 15-9 13-15 15-6 15-14 scoreline. Fifth seed Ryding also ousted a Frenchman when he upset fourth-seeded Renan Lavigne 15-12 15-5 15-12

The women's semi-finals will be as predicted by the seedings - US favourite
Natalie Pohrer facing third seed Natalie Grinham in the top of the draw and second seed Rebecca Macree taking on English compatriot Stephanie Brind, the fourth seed, in the lower half. All cruised to straight games quarter-final victories - except Australia's Natalie Grinham, who had an even easier ride when Irish opponent Madeline Perry conceded the match after injuring her back during practice earlier in the day.
