Club of Boston Junior Doubles Event Junior Division finalists Adam Vardikar and Krissy Rubin took on Will Sullivan and Alli Rubin (yes they are sisters!) and the spectators were certainly not disappointed, as all four showed that they were capable of adjusting to the bounce of the ball and also showed great understanding of the strategies of the doubles game. After a somewhat slow start, Sullivan and in particular Rubin,
started to take command of the match with some superbly executed
3-wall boasts and delicate touch dropshots. The Rubin sisters, playing on the right wall, were embroiled in a great tussle as both their male partners continued to play the ball to the right side of court to force the pressure! The 3rd and 4th games were so closely contested that both games were won by Vardikar and Rubin by the identical score line of 15-14. This event was a great success, particularly as far as exposing more juniors to the game of Hardball Doubles. Grassroots development is of great importance
to all sports and early exposure can only a good thing to ensure
that the Hardball doubles game has younger players eventually
graduate into senior competitive play. Krissy Rubin /Adam Vardikar bt Alli Rubin/Will Sullivan
