The 2002 Squashworks PSA Open got under way on Tuesday July 16th with eight qualification matches.
Mexican aspiring pro Eric Galvez earned a good win in first day's action, defeating respected contender Andrew Whipp of England, while Westchester-based David McNeely and Robbie Lingashi both won their first day qualifying tests.
The results are as follows:
Jonathan Kemp (England) defeated
Imran Khan (Pakistan) 15-4, 15-6, 15-13.
Eric Galvez (Mexico) defeated Andrew Whipp (England) 17-15, 15-13, 14-15,
15-4. Ritwik Bhattachary (India) defeated Beau River (USA) 15-3, 15-3,
15-5.
Jago Nardelli (England) defeated Jared Sandler (USA) 15-2, 15-2, 15-6.
Robby Lingashi (Zambia) defeated Patrick Chifunda (Zambia) 15-7, 15-11,
15-10.
David McNeely (USA) defeated Jason Jewell (USA) 15-8, 15-12, 15-13.
Matthew Guiffre (Canada) defeated Andre Holderegger (Switzerland) 15-13,
15-14, 14-15, 15-6.
Ronivaldo Santos (Brazil) defeated Peter Pastijn (Belgium) 12-13, 13-15,
15-13, 15-8, 15-14.
