Urban
Nationals for Second Year at Groton
The two extremes of junior squash - urban outreach squash programs and
the Groton Independent school met for the second consecutive year as the
"Urban Nationals" traveled again to the Groton School in Groton
MA.
Groton turns
out to be an ideal location for the event - with a wonderful sixteen court
facility and no distraction. And its exclusive, quiet, rural setting is
certainly the ultimate contrast to the normal everyday environment for
the urban squash programs of SquashBusters, Streetsquash, Squash Smarts,
and CitySquash.
Some
120 Participants
The urban nationals is a participation-focused event;
and some 120 enthusiastic participants sallied forth in seven divisions.
SquashBusters and City Squash players each won three of the seven total
titles, but that wasn't the real point; the real point was fellowship,
camaraderie, and a demonstration of how far these willing participants
have come in their squash skills over the past season.
