Ong beats back Ball Challenge Today was a day of lost chances for the lower-seeded four in the first round of play. Bradley Ball led Ong Beng Hee 16-15 in the crucial third game of their first round match. Ball had already lost game one 17-14 and needed this game to get the match. But Beng Hee pulled a few wonderful winning shots from his arsenal to close out the match and move on to meet Nick Matthew who had no difficulties with John Russell. Alex Gough led Peter Nicol 11-8 in the second game but as he has done again and again throughout his career, Nicol bore down and played error-free squash to come back and take that game and the match. I was down 11-1 in first game against Alex Gough but got back to 11-12 and then lost that game. I got the third game to stand at 1-2 down, but couldn't sustain my effort in the fourth Results from the first
