England's Stacey Ross had beaten Scotland's top seed John White in the quarter-finals and he continued his run of shock result to win the Euroland Properties North of Scotland Open in Aberdeen.
In an entertaining 75-minute match, the Surrey player fought back from dropping the opening game to win 9-11 11-10 (3-1) 11-9 11-3 and justify his decision to give up a lucrative job in the City of London to pursue a full-time squash career. As a youngster, Ross was the best player in Britain, winning the British Under-16 title in the same era as the Scot turned Englishman Peter Nicol who went on to dominate the world rankings and win British and World Open titles. "I worked in the City for six years but have now come back to squash as a full-time player and I want to see how far I can go," said Ross. "I'm in my thirties, so I know I've only got a few years left. But this weekend has been a great boost." Quarter-finals:
