Vanessa Atkinson, playing confident attacking squash, was too much for qualifier Samantha Teran to handle. Teran, still regaining fitness after an earlier knee injury, could not find a way to get on the offensive against Atkinson's relentless pace and court coverage. Teran was unable to sustain the pressure she put forward in the second game. The match of the day, though was an all-UK battle between Jenny Tranfield and Rebecca Macree. Macree, who has a big height advantage over Tranfield while Tranfield produces a high energy level and superior court coverage. The result, between two players very familiar with each others games, was long rallies, precise shotmaking and an enthralling tactical battle. Macree emerged after a long four games with the semi final berth. Defending champion and "elder stateswoman" Suzanne Horner produced yet another great performance against upcoming young star Engy Kheirallah, but Horner's experience gave her the tactical upper hand in a straight-game victory. Highly-motivated Pamela Nimmo suprised New Zealander Shelly Kitchen from the opening bell and came out with a closely fought three game win.
