at South American Juniors

More than 150 junior players from across South America gathered in Columbia on February 26th -28 th to contest the South American junior championships.

Medal results were as follows:

Mexico, 6 golds, 9 total;
Columbia, 1 gold, 8 total;
Argentina, 1 gold, 5 total
El Salvador and Guatemala, 3 medals each; Ecuador 1.

In the marquis boys under 19 event, Mexican Mauricio Sanchez won a tight five game battle against Columbian Miguel Angel Rodriguez. In the girls under 19s, Mariana de Reyes of Columbia controlled Mexican Nayelly Hernandez by a 10-8, 9-2, 9-6 scoreline.
