England's Bradley Ball collected his third PSA Tour title of the year when he beat Australian qualifier Marcus Smith in the final of the Atlanta Squash Open in Georgia, USA. Top seed Ball was taken to five games by unseeded Zambian Robby Lingashi in the semi-finals, but the 25-year-old from Ipswich clinched the title in straight games with a 15-10 17-15 15-5 win over Smith. The Georgia final marked the third reached this year by Smith against the odds. Ranked just inside the top 200 at the beginning of the year, Smith reached the Rocafort Open final in Spain in January as a qualifier (where he was beaten by Ball) - then last week clinched the Dartmouth Mudbowl Open title unseeded. After qualifying in Atlanta, the Netherlands-based 25-year-old beat the 2nd and 8th seeds before bravely bowing out to the favourite in the final.
