Tranfield Takes Carcassone Title England's Jenny Tranfield became the first Doctor to win a major squash title when she beat the host country's Isabelle Stoehr in the final of the Women's Carcassone City Squash Open in France. Top-seeded Tranfield, who was awarded her PhD in 'Sports Psychology' in February, was herself 'out-psyched' in the first game when her second-seeded opponent took a 1-0 lead after winning four points in a row. Stoehr fought back from 7-2 down in the second game, and had three game points for a 2-0 lead, but Tranfield maintained her composure to win 10-8 and level the match. By now the local heroine - in her second Carcassone final - was tiring, and Tranfield piled on the pressure to ease to a 6-9 10-8 9-0 9-2 victory to become the third English woman after Sue Wright and Vicky Lankester to lift the title. RESULTS: Women's Carcassone City Squash Open, Carcassone, France Final:
