& England Share European Junior Spoils
England
and hosts Germany shared the spoils in the European Junior U-17 & U-15
Team Squash Championships in Böblingen, Germany.
In
the U-17 final, favourites England beat second seeds France 3-0 to win
the title for the third successive year against the third different opposition.
Emma Beddoes put the defending champions ahead, whitewashing France's
Celia Allamargot 9-0 9-0 9-0. Laurence Delasaux made sure of victory with
a 9-3 9-4 9-2 win over Yann Perrin, then Mitchell Cook wrapped up the
final rubber beating Fabien Verseille 9-5 9-1.
The U-15 title also went to the title-holders, though third seeds Germany
only reached the final after beating second seeds Netherlands in the semi-finals.
Top seeds England took the early lead when Rachel Wilmott fought back
from 2-0 down to beat Germany's Pamela Hathway 3-9 5-9 10-8 9-2 9-3. The
host nation's Tim Weber levelled the tie with a 9-0 9-4 9-6 victory over
James Snell - then Simon Rösner became the local hero when he clinched
Germany's 2-1 win after defeating England's Joel Hinds 8-10 9-6 9-3 9-0.
