Reported 1.2.99 by Ron Beck January 1, 1999. Some 90 junior players, in 8 divisions, converged on the
Concord-Acton squash club. As the thermometer plunged toward zero degrees farenheit, anticipation
was for a crisp, very cold day as this popular Mass Open Championships tournament got underway. The largest groups
represented in the tournament were; the SquashBusters, with about a
dozen contestants entered, Phillips Andover
Squash, with nine team members entered, a strong group from Brooklyn's Heights Casino Club and
a Connecticut group. On Sunday morning as the semifinals began, an anticipated snowfall did not materialize. Instead the club was
pounded by freezing rain through the day. In spite of the weather,
the players' enthusiasm and their high quality play continued unabated through the finals. The tournament was part of the Mass Juniors Grand Prix Series, Sponsored by QM USA. Results posted on this website, are final:
