Top seed Carla Khan created squash history in South America when she became
the first Pakistan woman to win a title on the Women's International Squash
Players' Association (WISPA) World Tour. Khan, who has been struggling to get wins and recognition on the pro tour, got her win today over local favorite Samantha Teran.

Teran, the leading pro player from Central or South America, put up a strong battle before succombing to the determination of Khan.

Khan may get some of her skill and determination from family ties. The 21-year-old pro is granddaughter of the legendary four-times British Open champion Azam Khan. She beat Mexico's third seed Samantha Teran 9-1 2-9 9-3 9-1 in the final of the El Salvador Women's Open at the Maya Country Club in the country's capital city San Salvador to claim her first WISPA title in her first final.

Khan, born in England and now based in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, rose
to a career-high No37 in the world rankings this month and was competing in
the first WISPA World Tour event to be staged in El Salvador.

The Pakistan national champion beat Scotland's Frania Gillen-Buchert to reach
the final, whilst Samantha Teran upset second-seeded Australian Melissa
Martin in five games in the other semi-final.
