Beng Hee Beats Azlan In Dramatic Malaysian Open Duel
It took 102 minutes to settle today’s (Friday) eagerly-awaited all-Malaysian squash duel in the semi-finals of the CIMB Malaysian Open – with the nation’s former number one Ong Beng Hee edging out his successor Mohd Azlan Iskandar in a dramatic five-game upset in the semi-finals of the PSA Tour event in Kuala Lumpur.

Beng Hee, the third seed who has been enjoying a good spell of form over the past few months, took the opening two games against his top-seeded compatriot at the National Squash Centre at Bukit Jalil.

But world No14 Iskandar, ranked three places above his opponent, fought back to take the next two games to level the match between the two UK-based players.

Ong Beng Hee, however, rediscovered his touch and went on to claim his morale-boosting 11-7 11-8 7-11 7-11 11-4 victory - and a place in the 15th PSA final of his career.

Beng Hee will face Wael El Hindi in the final.  The fourth-seeded Egyptian upset Canada’s Graham Ryding, the No2 seed, 3-11 11-7 11-3 11-10 in 60 minutes.
