Golan Celebrates Hat-trick In Calgary

Spain's Borja Golan claimed a notable record in Canada when he won the
Talisman Energy Calgary Squash Open title in Calgary to secure his third
successive PSA Tour title as a non-seed.

The unseeded Spaniard, aged 19, from Santiago, defeated England's second seed
Mark Heather 15-13, 13-15, 15-6, 17-16 in an entertaining and at times
physical 80-minute match. The teenager had earlier removed top-seeded
Englishman Ben Garner in an 82-minute five-game thriller in the semi finals.

Golan, who was ranked 243 in the Dunlop PSA World Rankings last December, has
enjoyed rapid progress on the PSA Tour this year - winning both the Mega Italia Open in May and the Barcelona Open in September as a qualifier, and now boasting an impressive 'hit-rate' of three wins out of three final appearances.

Golan, Heather and Garner all move on now to Saskatchewan to the next tour event.

Calgary Open tournament director Bob Ballinger was delighted with the
outcome: "The squash fans here were treated to great squash by all of the
PSA pro's throughout the week and it should be noted that the on-court
conduct by the players was exceptional. The players were also very
complimentary in return of the well-run tournament which featured a 200
person amateur tournament as well. Watch for this event to continue to grow
in size over the next few years on the PSA circuit."
