MONDAY OCT 22, 2001 PSA ANNOUNCES 01-02 BOARD OF DIRECTORS Jack Herrick, Board Chairman of the Professional Squash Association, announced today (Monday 22 October) at the PSA's office in Cardiff that the following seven persons have been elected to the Board of Directors of the PSA for the upcoming year: Mark Cairns (England), Robert Edwards (Wales), Rodney Eyles (Australia), Robert Graham (USA), Tony Hands (England), Jack Herrick (USA) and David Palmer (Australia). The election results are normally announced the PSA's Annual General Meeting, but this year's Meeting has been postponed from its original date. In commenting on the election results and the Board's composition, Mr. Herrick praised the work of Mohamed El Menshawy of Egypt, who decided not to pursue another term in view of his squash and business commitments elsewhere. "Mensh has been a valuable contributor to the business and affairs of the PSA, especially given his broad business background, and we shall miss him," said Mr. Herrick. Replacing Mr. Menshawy on the Board will be David Palmer. "David is a young and talented player on the Tour, as is now evidenced by his number one world ranking. He also has shown a maturity in judgement which likewise should make him a most valuable asset to the Board," Mr. Herrick concluded. With the departure of El MEnshawy, the PSA Board is left without a representative from any of the Asian or Middle Eastern powerhouse countries, in particular Pakistan, Egypt, and Malaysia are absent. Outside of longtime chairman Jack Herrick, the board is made up of Great Britain and Australian individuals. |
