Atkinson and Cairns get big Wins

England's Mark Cairns and Netherlands' English-born Vanessa Atkinson both celebrated their second professional title successes with straight games final victories in Zurich, Switzerland. Cairns, at 34 the second-oldest player in the PSA top forty, claimed his first tour title since winning the Hungarian Open in September 1995 - his maiden PSA success - when he dismissed Switzerland's Lars Harms 15-8 15-9 15-4 in the final of the Prosperco Grasshopper Cup.

Local fans had much to celebrate, however, as fifth seed Harms was the first Swiss player to reach the Grasshopper Cup final for more than six years - just a week after upsetting the seedings in the USA to reach the final of the Tech Valley Open in New York. In the final of the Women's Deloitte & Touche Cup, second seed Vanessa Atkinson upset Australia's top seed Rachael Grinham 9-6 9-1 9-7 to claim the WISPA World Tour title exactly twelve months after registering her first, by winning the Bronxville Open in the USA.
