DEFEATS RAZIK IN 54 MINUTES [Main Draw]

Malaysia's Mohammed Azlan Iskandar followed up his win last month at the PNG Open, with a straight game victory over Shahier Razik of Canada to claim the Kolkata International squash championship title here today. The pesky Razik, who plays a generally defensive style of squash, kept Iskandar on court at the Calcutta Racket Club for almost one hour.

Razik seemed sluggish after the long and gruelling five-game win against Australia's Cameron Pilley yesterday, and complained of stiffness in his leg muscles after the match.

"Azlan was too quick on the front. I got no breather. But I desperately needed a breather as my legs were stiff," said Razik graciously after the contest.

Azlan, who was able to take and keep the initiative through the match, said that he benefitted from early leads in each game.

"I was lucky. All those I faced from the quarter final stage seemed tired after playing tough games a day earlier. Today, I took the lead in the initial stages of each game, and this enabled me to try different things. But whenever Razik closed in I returned to my tactical game," he said.
