USA team bows to Canada A team in team finals. No South or Central American teams entered.

On Wednesday June 23rd, the USA junior mens' teams set off determined to represent the USA well in the 1999 North American Junior Men's Team Championships. Under head coach Bryan Patterson and assistant coach Mark Lewis, the teams consisted of under 19 players Richard Repetto(New Jersey), Dylan Patterson (New York), Isaac (Ziggy) Whitman, (Pennsylvania), and Pat Malloy (Massachusetts) along with a very talented under 16 squad of Eric Wadhwa (New York), Julian Illingworth (Oregon), William Broadbent (Connecticut), and Asher Hochberg (New Jersey).

The tournament site, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, boasted four international courts, numerous other athletic facilities and a comfortable viewing environment. The first half of the tournament consisted of an individual championship, with participants from the Caribbean, Canada, and the United States. In the boys under 16 championship, #1 seed Eric Wadhwa upheld his seeding in a 3-1 decision over #2 seed Julian Illingworth in an all USA final. Third place was won by William Cheng in a 3-1 decision over fellow-Canadian and #3 seed Brad Jones.

In the boys under 19 championships, #3 seed Matt Giuffre defeated #1 seed Shawn Delierre 3-0 in an all-Canadian finals. Third place was captured by Canadian #4 seed Danny Rutherford over # 2 seed Richard Repetto in a 3-0 decision.
