EDGES BAILEY OUT IN NEW YORK Both players had arrived at the last four stage without dropping games - eighth seed Bailey, the former world junior champion from Stamford in Lincolnshire, having upset world champion Cassie Campion in the previous round. Charman, the 28-year-old 4th seed from Hailsham in Sussex, now meets Leilani Joyce, the second seed from New Zealand who is making her maiden appearance in a Carol Weymuller climax. In their fourth meeting in two months, British Open champion Joyce ultimately gained the upper hand over Australia's world No3 Carol Owens to win 10-9 1-9 9-6 9-4.
