Australia's world No. 1 Michelle Martin survived a tough quarter-final battle with compatriot Carol Owens, coming back from a game down to beat the world No. 10 from Melbourne 3/9 9/7 9/3 9/2 to reach her fifth successive semi-final in the $30,000 Carol Weymuller Squash Open in New York.

The top seed and defending champion from Sydney, who also won the title in 1995, now faces twice Carol Weymuller champion Cassie Campion - the third seed from Norfolk who overcame England team-mate Stephanie Brind 10/9 9/6 9/4.

Second seed Natalie Grainger dismissed England's 1993 champion Fiona Geaves 9/5 9/2 9/2 to reach her first WISPA World Tour semi-final since adopting English nationality last month. The world No. 4 from Nottingham will face compatriot Linda Charman, the world No. 7 from Sussex making her first appearance in the event's last four since 1994, who beat Germany's Sabine Schoene 9/5 9/3 9/2.
