Cassie Campion, then Jackman, was the last player to prevent Martin reaching a WISPA final when she beat the Australian in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Classic in November 1996. In New York, Cassie was a game up and had game-ball at 8/6 in the second before the defending champion fought back to beat the world No. 5 from Norfolk 6/9 10/8 9/6 9/2 in just over an hour. Martin, 32, from Sydney, will face another English player in the final - Sussex's world No. 7 Linda Charman who upset second seeded compatriot Natalie Grainger 9/3 3/9 9/4 9/1 to reach her fourth WISPA World Tour final of the year.
