1.9.00. PSA World Squash News PALMER BECOMES TOP
AUSTRALIAN IN NEW WORLD RANKINGS Scotland's world champion Peter Nicol, unbeaten on the PSA Tour since February, heads the list for the eighth successive month following his success in last month's Al-Ahram International in Egypt. In an unchanged top six, Canada's Jonathon Power is at No2, Egypt's Ahmed Barada at 3, with England's Simon Parke, Scotland's Martin Heath and England's Paul Johnson at 4, 5 and 6, respectively. David Palmer, 24, has already claimed six titles from 14 final appearances on the PSA Tour. In March he reached the semi-finals of the Irish Open in Dublin, and last month made his quarter-final debut in a Super Series event when he reached the last eight of the Al-Ahram International in Egypt. While Palmer's compatriot Anthony Hill drops out of the top ten for the first time since March 1999, England's Del Harris, a 'veteran' of the PSA Tour since 1984, moves up to No7 - only two places below his career best No5. England's Manchester-based Nick Taylor rises to a career-high world No16. Three players register career-best rankings in the September list: Australia's John Williams rises to 28; Egypt's Kareem Darwish leaps 11 positions to 38; and Pakistan's Ajaz Azmat moves up one place to 42. |
