WOMEN'S MUNICH OPEN FIRST ROUND

[SquashTalk Munich Open DRAW and Coverage]

Natalie Grainger showed up in Munich looking extremely fit and ready to play. It bodes well for a possible semi-final showdown between current world #1 Leilani Joyce and currently US-based Grainger.

My Match with top junior player, Nicol David, turned out to be relatively uneventful. David is a fine and strong player, but I was able to control the play throughout. Most of today's matches went as predicted, however Vanessa Atkinson's shoulder injury, which forced her to abandon her match with Grainger, put an end to one of the potentially more interesting matches.

Tania Bailey still looks tentative and not totally back from her recent automobile accident. She was still able to prevail over the spirited play from Janie Thacker.

Local star Sabine Schoene, the host pro for the event, had a great result upsetting Fiona Geaves to earn a second round meeting with Grainger.
