WORLD SQUASH NEWS RESULTS: Women's Al-Ahram Squash International, Cairo, Egypt Quarter-finals:
[1] Michelle Martin (AUS) bt [6] Linda Charman (ENG) 9/4 3/9 9/5 9/4 New Zealand's world No3 Leilani Joyce failed to reach her eighth successive
WISPA World Tour semi-final this year when she lost 6/9 9/0 9/6 10/8 in 58
minutes to Australia's Carol Owens in today's (Tuesday) quarter-finals of the
$41,000 Women's Al-Ahram Squash International in Cairo, Egypt.
Second seed Joyce, 25, from Hamilton, was runner-up to Australia's world No1
Michelle Martin in the Australian Open, Singapore Open and Heliopolis Open
over the past four weeks, and earlier in the year won three titles in the USA
- the Evergreen Open, Art of Squash and Las Vegas Open.
Carol Owens, 28, from Melbourne, now faces England's third seed Cassie
Campion for a place in Thursday's final, after the Norfolk-born 26-year-old
beat compatriot Suzanne Horner, the recently-crowned World Masters Over-35
champion, 9/5 9/3 9/4 in 33 minutes.
Meanwhile top seed Michelle Martin, 32, from Sydney, took four games to
overcome England's Linda Charman 9/4 3/9 9/5 9/4 and, in the other
semi-final, will face Germany's 7th seed Sabine Schoene who beat South
African qualifier Claire Nitch 7/9 10/9 9/3 3/9 9/7.
