The semi finals of the Squash Hillegom Flowerbulb Open 2008 will be contested by the top four seeds tomorrow after they all moved through the opening day of the WISPA Tour 4 championship unharmed.

It wasn’t plain sailing for all of them though as Kylie Lindsay escaped in her match against Dutch international Dagmar Vermeulen. The third seeded Kiwi took a comprehensive 2-0 lead, but found herself 9-4 down in the deciding game before reasserting herself, reeling off seven points in a row to win the cliffhanger 11-9 in the fifth.

Lindsay will now take on top seed Lauren Siddall, who brushed aside the challenge of a tired looking Sina Wall. The German qualifier ousted Lauren Selby earlier in the day in a marathon match, but had nothing left in the tank to trouble the event’s favorite.

In the bottom half of the draw, the 23-year old Orla Noom delighted the enthusiastic home crowd with a hard fought win over Czech Republic’s fast improving Olga Ertlova. After sharing the first two games, it was the Dutch girl who proved a little bit stronger in games three and four, running out a 11-5, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8 winner. The world number 41, who clinched the Prague Open title only a few weeks ago, will face Adel Weir in tomorrow’s semi final. The tall South African beat Milou van der Heijden, the 17-year old talent from the city of Eindhoven, in straight games.
