El Tayeb Just a Little Bit Better in World Jr Final [DRAW]
Tonight's intramural battle for the World Title, between British Jr Open Titlest Nour El Tayeb and Former World Jr Open Holder Nour El Sherbini was decided in the third game. El Tayeb won game one in dominant fashion. El Sherbini came back like a whirlwind in game two and dominated El Tayeb with shotmaking, deception and power.
Game three, played at a much higher intensity level, was evenly, fiercely, and errorlessly contested. With the two Egyptians probing each other for possible weak points, each point was scintillating. El Tayeb attacked, El Sherbini anticipated and counter attacked. El Sherbini attacked, El Tayeb stretched out.
El Tayeb, relaxed and confident, displayed terrific length, great anticipation and wonderful touch. El Sherbini for her part showed incredible instincts for the game, for the angles and for the attack.
The array of deception and offensive forays showed by both players was inspiring and dizzying.
It took outright winners for the points to be decided. These, the two players traded back and forth, until the game reached 7 all.
At this point, El Tayeb wanted it just a little bit more, and a few excellently played points ended in El Tayeb's favor.
El Tayeb's regained confidence buoyed her through a very close fourth game, and gave her the World Title.
The American fans who stayed away missed a fine exhibition of first class squash, put on by two accomplished practitioners of the game.
